Can control water to an extent. Super strong in naga form. Powers linked to emotions. Martial artist (see history).
On the outside, Yuè seems calm and collected. She's not one to show her feelings, mainly because she doesn't know how to properly express them. She has been taught to not show any weakness to her opponents, due to her being a martial artist. It takes a lot to rile her up, but when she does get mad she can get very violent. The main thing that gets her mad is when someone grossly insults her or her species. Then she can go into a rage, turning into her naga form and trying to seriously hurt the person who insulted her.
But there is a side to her that no one knows about. Or at least have never seen. She only has that cold exterior because she feels the need to hide her tender inside. Inside she is very sensitive and gets hurt easily. She was teased a lot as a child, mainly because she was home-schooled. The other kids picked on her exclusively and even went so far as to throw rocks at her and hit her. Their parents did nothing to help poor Yuè; they just turned the other cheek. So growing up, she has learned from experience that she must not show any sign of weakness. She seems calm and mature, but deep down she's still that frightened little girl. She is secretly looking for that special someone just for her, but feels she will never find them. As a result, she doesn't really know how to act around boys that she likes for fear she will be rejected. That is her main fear: being rejected.
Lixue Mèngyǎn- Mother (naga)
Lóng Mèngyǎn- Father (naga)
Lianhua Mèngyǎn- Grandmother (naga)
Zhou Mèngyǎn- Grandfather (naga) deceased
Yuè's parents are Chinese immigrants, but she was born in Arizona. Both her parents are dedicated martial artists, and Yuè is no exception. Over the years she has been trained in Kung Fu. She is a black belt and a master with the staff, anyone who has tried to mug her has ended up in the hospital. In her training, she learned to utilize whatever she could in a fight. Whether it is broken glass or a discarded drain pipe. While she was growing up her parents home-schooled her.
During these years, her father was very tough with her. He had quite the temper, and would yell and scream at Yuè for the smallest things. Because of this, she came to fear her father and as such isn't very comfortable around men. Her mother did nothing during these episodes, and Yuè kind of resents her mother for that. She has always been a loner, and as a result doesn't have any friends. She thinks that other people are born lucky, and that she was lucky to be born. She's always had to struggle through life, but that's made her strong.
She discovered her water powers when she was 14. Her parents were surprised by this, as no one in the family (that they knew of) had magic. In reality, Yuè's maternal grandmother has water powers as well. This was kept a secret from her mother and grandfather, but she is very practiced with it. When Lianhua discovered that her granddaughter shared her water magic, she convinced Lixue and Lóng to let Yuè come live with her in New York. In New York, Lianhua taught Yuè everything she knew about her water powers.
Three years after Yuè came to New York, Lianhua decided that she should go to a school for people like her. She asked some of her friends, and one of them told her about Lawrence Academy. Lianhua arranged a meeting with the principal and questioned him about the school. She was satisfied with his answers and enrolled Yuè. She is still adjusting to life at a school, but is getting along better every day.
